REPORT
TEXT
Report text is a text which provides
factual information based on certain investigation or research. Unlike descriptive
text, in report text we give general information of certain group of object. If
you discuss about cats, you cannot discuss only one cat, but all of them in
general. Whereas, in descriptive text, we give specific information of an
object. It means that, when you discuss about cats, you must discuss only one cat,
not all of them. For example, you describe your own cat.
The generic
structure of report text
1. Identification ; in this part, you must identify the objects that you
will discuss. You can start from the very general information of the objects,
like definition or classification.
2. General description ; in this part, you must provide
your finding. If you topic is animal, you can write about habitat, dietery,
habit, physical feature, and benefit.
